A self-build refurbishment and modernisation of a Victorian terrace house in South East London for my wife and me.
The project retains some of the original features of the property but with an extensive upgrade of fixtures, fitting, finishes, and new electrical and plumbing services throughout. Ceilings and walls that were no longer fit for purposes were rebuilt. The outdated kitchen and bathroom were removed and reconfigured with space-saving solutions. A simple and modern material palette was introduced with features accentuating the new and bespoke. All joinery items were made on-site by myself and Pedro Gil. They not only serve a practical purpose but also draw the eye through to key focal points throughout the property. The bathroom is contained within a monochrome palette to enhance a sense of spatiality and ritual. Yellow accents often feature as visual cues in various rooms.
Choosing to live on site whilst undertaking the work, took 6 months to complete. Roz Lee, Pedro Gil, Ivanik and Newmay Electrical Services assisted me on the project at various stages.
Affectionately nicknamed "Ginger & Grey" in reference to the homeowners, it has been a true labour of love.
